Cherry and Carlos of Vibram Philippines showed us the S/S collection during the 5th Vibram FiveFingers Fans Club Fun Run.  I am looking forward on using my 10% discount on a pair

VIBRAM FiveFingers® KomodoSport ($100) – New for Spring Summer 2011
With today’s athlete in mind, Vibram FiveFingers® has raised the intensity with the Vibram FiveFingers® KomodoSport. This aggressive multisport design inherits what we love about the KSO with functional improvements that appeal to the most active fitness enthusiast. For the first time ever, Vibram® introduces a stitch-free, seamless 2mm footbed to reduce friction. Heel and instep hook-and-loop closures help secure the stretch nylon upper to the contours of your foot-just like a second skin. The KomodoSport wouldn’t be complete without a 4mm Vibram® TC1 performance rubber
outsole which provides the grip and protection you need for a variety of cross training activities.

VIBRAM FiveFingers® Bikila LS ($100) - New for Spring Summer 2011
Following in the footsteps of the original Vibram FiveFingers® Bikila, the new Bikila LS offers a closed speed lace system to accommodate a wider foot or higher instep. It shares the same revolutionary platform as the Bikila, featuring a Dri-Lex covered 3mm polyurethane insole (thickest under the ball) and a 4mm anatomical pod outsole
design. This combination provides superior plating protection and distributes forefoot impact without compromising essential ground feedback. The Bikila LS’ upper is constructed of Coconut Active Carbon for natural breathability.
An athletic padded collar and topline, 3M reflective surfaces, and abrasion resistant PU toe protection add to Bikila LS’ road worthy design. The defining feature of the Bikila LS’ is its closed quick lace system assuring a custom fit for a wider range of foot types
Machine Washable, Air Dry.

VIBRAM FiveFingers® Jaya ($85) - New for Spring Summer 2011
The Vibram FiveFingers® Jaya fosters grace and power in a minimalist design. Created specifically for the modern fitness enthusiast, the stretch nylon upper and padded collar comfortably secure the foot during exercise. The athletic
upper provides coverage that will secure the Jaya on the foot. The 5.5mm EVA sole makes the Jaya one of the lightest models in our collection. Strategically placed Vibram® TC1 performance rubber pads provide grip and durability to
this unique sole design. The Jaya can be worn for a variety of indoor and outdoor fitness activities requiring balance, agility and power

Hyundai Fun Run 2011

UPDATE:

My short Race Review here
_______________________________________________________________
Hyundai is extending the CLAIMING period!

Where: Hyundai Headquarters (KPMG Center, 6787 Ayala Avenue Makati City)
When: April 1, 2011 (10:00am- 7:00pm)
_______________________________________________________________
Remember: Bring all necessary requirements such as photocopy of valid ID with photo and signature, fully-accomplished registration form, signed new waiver (with signed authorization letter and photocopy of representative's valid ID if claiming through a representative)

When it rains, it pours.  This is exactly what happened to Hyundai's Run For A Cause 2011.  Just a few days since its inception, the maximum number of participants has been met and even exceeded.  As a lot of runners registered to this FREE fun run.  It even caused the online registration to crash due to the enormous demand

From what we heard from the grapevine, there are at least 24,000 runners who will show up this coming Saturday.  This is more than the intended 500 participants that Hyundai originally wanted.  As of this posting, the additional slots they opened up last Friday are all gone

What: Hyundai Fun Run 2011
When: April 2, 2011 (Saturday)
Where: Quirino Grandstand (originally Bonifacio Global City)
Beneficiary: Gawad Kalinga Center for Social Innovation (GK-CSI), St. Scholastica's Priory, Habitat for Humanity, and Haribon Foundation

Category, Assembly Time and Gun Start

Singlet Design

You can claim your race pack (singlet and bib number) from March 29 until March 31 (10am - 6pm) from Hyundai HQ/Makati,  Hyundai Quezon City, Hyundai Global City, Hyundai Alabang, and Second Wind Ortigas.  Please bring a filled up registration form and a signed waiver

Because Hyundai had to prematurely close the registration, they inadvertently made the waiver inaccessible.  Good thing, they made the website available again so we can now get the registration form together with the waiver (the direct link is --> www.hyundaifunrun.com/GetForm.aspx)

You may key-in your reference number (this was sent to your email) or by your name (first and last) together with your birthdate

You may also download a copy of the waiver by clicking here

Like I said earlier, there are at least 24,000 runners who registered for the fun run. And to be honest, this is a huge amount of participants on a single event.  As a comparison , RUNRIO races has a maximum cap of 10,000~12,000 runners

What do you need to know
1 Venue has changed.  From BGC toQuirino Grandstand.  I suspect that this is to accommodate the large number of runners
2 They will be implementing different gun starts.  This is to control the number of participants running at the same time and also for the marshals to be able to provide proper attention to the runners
3 There will be NO race results.  This fun run comes with an RFID timing strip
4 This is a FUN run and NOT a race
5 There is Hyundai Village where they will showcase their cars and is available for a test drive.  I do hope Genesis will be among one of them.  I want to drive that
6 Race packs of registrants who have successfully submitted their entries starting March 24, 2011 shall be claimed only at the Hyundai Headquarters
7 There will be photo coverage by activemoments.net

[Review] 5th Vibram FiveFingers Fun Run

Since last night, I've been thinking on where to spend my Sunday morning.  I usually have my long and slow distance run together with my buddy Jake at BGC.  Then there's the 5th Vibram FiveFingers Fun Run in Mall of Asia.  I already fell asleep and no decision was made

Woke up around 3:50am and gave it a few minutes of pondering.  I finally gave in to the urge of joining the barefoot running community for a 5k fun run.  Took a cab and arrived no later than 6am in the parking lot adjacent to iMax.  There were a handful of barefoot and minimalist runners already.  Signed my name up and asked if there's a baggage area.  There was NONE!  "I need to be creative here", I said to myself

I was about to go to a coffee shop and plead them to have my things stored, like a bright light on a dark sky, I saw Dindo.  He was gracious enough to accommodate my stuff in his trunk.  I went back to where the group congregated and waited for further instructions

A few minutes has passed, ultramarathoner Ronald Declarador and Cherry Ermita (Vibram) asked us to gather around and proceeded in giving some welcome remarks and the purpose of the fun run.  We were then sub-divided into two groups depending on the distance we will cover for the day

The 5km group, where I was in, was initially paced by Ronald with an agreed 8 minutes/km.  He was held up with the head of security so another person had to take his place, and we continued with our run.  In the first kilometer we were keeping a 5 mins 30 secs/km pace.  Our pacer asked us to back down a bit since we were running a bit fast.  By the time we made a U-turn at Coral Way, everyone in the lead pack just went wild.  The bunch ran as fast as they can to their heart's content, hitting sub-4 mins/km  There goes the "fun" run

The run ended up short, instead of running 5 kilometers, we came in to a close 4.3 kilometers.  It was still all good even without any kilometer markers, water stations and a timing chip.  Everyone had a great time and we all got treats from Gatorade, Bodivance, Anlene, and Nature Valley.  On top of that, everyone received a 10% discount on any VFF footwear

We also got a sneak peek of the Spring/Summer 2011 collection which will become locally available around late March/early April.

Here are the runners who finished the 3km and 5km run first, both got a shirt from Nature Valley and Vibram

The 5th installment of the VFF fun run brought as many minimalist and barefoot runners as possible as there were at least 75 participants who showed up.  This number was almost double compared to the last event (4th VFF run) conducted

Special thanks to Ronald Declarador, Carlos Abad and Cherry Ermita for putting up such a wonderful event for the barefoot running community.  Many thanks also to Dave and Dindo of Barefoot Running Philippines

Look forward for the 6th Vibram FiveFingers Fun Run soon (very soon) and hopefully an interactive talk/discussion among barefoot runners.  And I am crossing my fingers, and wishing really hard, that we will have a baggage area this time
