Adidas Apparel Lowers Your Temperature

adidas launched a revolution in active cooling technology, the adidas Climachill™ range. The range incorporates an innovative fabric using titanium and 3D aluminium cooling spheres. The technology provides an instant ‘chill’ effect to help athletes’s performance in warm conditions lowering their body temperature so they can train harder, run longer, retain their focus and compete better.

adidas understands the importance of temperature management to make athletes better and for the first time used evaporation and conduction methods together. Revolutionary aluminium cooling spheres are strategically located to correspond with the warmest area of the body, cooling skin down upon contact. In addition to the aluminium dots, the ground-breaking SubZero flat yarn contains titanium and is woven throughout the inside of each Climachill™ jersey, delivering up to 36 % more cooling capacity*.

The range was rigorously tested in the state of the art adidas ‘Clima’ chamber, with temperatures as high as 50°C. By using a 35-degree ‘hot plate’ to simulate critical functions of the human skin, adidas were able to determine a pre-selection of functional fabrics to find the ultimate Climachill™ fabric.

The Climachill™ technology goes on sale worldwide from 1 April within various categories including; Men’s, Women’s and Kid’s Training, as well as Tennis and Outdoor wear. The key pieces in the Climachill™ product range are the Men’s Training t-shirt and the Women’s Tennis top.

David Beckham, Climachill™ ambassador commented on the new range: ‘Playing and training in extreme conditions can be very challenging both mentally and physically. In my time as a player I have played in cold conditions in the North of England and in very hot climate in the US – weather can really make a difference to an athlete’s performance. The technology used in the Climachill™ range will really help athletes concentrate on their game so they can perform at their best, even in the harshest of conditions.’

Heike Leibl, adidas SVP for Training added: ‘At adidas we are constantly striving to create innovations to make the athlete comfortable so they can focus on performance. The Aluminium Cooling Spheres used in the Climachill™ range provide an instant ‘chill’ effect to keep the athlete at their peak optimum temperature to perform at their best in any conditions.”

The new adidas Climachill™ range will be available in the Philippines starting April 15 in leading adidas and sports stores nationwide

Reebok Unveils The ZSERIES Collection

Reebok unveils its latest running footwear collection, the Reebok ZSERIES COLLECTION. This unique, natural motion product is inspired by the design of high-performance ZRated tires found on exotic high-end sports cars. ZRated tires are designed for use on cars that travel at speeds in excess of 149 mph (240 km/h) and the treads are engineered for ultimate ground contact and the ability to rapidly move in and out of turns at high speed. Reebok ZSERIES COLLECTION is designed for high speed performance as well.

The ZQUICK shoe features a unique foam compound and radically sliced geometry similar to that of a high performance tire for ultimate ground contact and a light weight, cushioned and more responsive ride. The underfoot grooves allow the midsole to flex and expand as the foot does, naturally increasing the edges in contact with the ground to allow rapid acceleration and easy control at high speed. For additional stability when accelerating in and out of turns, the ZQUICK features a strategically placed NanoWeb upper that keeps the foot supported and centered providing enhanced control and stability so that the runner can move laterally with speed and quickness. Combined with a smooth, nearly seam-free upper for an irritation-free fit, the ZQUICK is the complete shoe to ensure a smooth, quick ride.

“At Reebok, we are committed to designing innovative, unique performance shoes for runners,” said Bill McInnis, Head of Running at Reebok. “We want to get people out of their comfort zone - to try new running experiences that will allow them to achieve their fitness goals. We believe in a varied running program of speed, distance and terrain that will help keep the sport fresh and exciting for runners of all levels. ZQUICK is the ideal shoe for the runner looking to push themselves to become faster.”

The Reebok ZQUICK is available for men and women at the following REEBOK STORES: MEGAMALL, GATEWAY, GALLERIA, EASTWOOD, TRINOMA, FESTIVAL MALL AND ROYAL SPORTING HOUSE. Reebok is also introducing Reebok ZSeries collections across Training and Walking models.

Reebok ONE Series Apparel Collection

This Spring/Summer 2014, Reebok is introducing its innovative construction system, BareMOVE, into its performance apparel range - the Reebok ONE Series. The zoned system is designed to target key areas within the apparel to keep the body cool, free and protected for a more comfortable experience when working out.

Over the past few years, Reebok product teams studied athletes performing functional movements to identify key heat zones, areas of flexibility/stretch and protection needs. These insights helped develop the BareMOVE construction system to address three main components: Movement, Cooling, and Protection. Each element has its own function within the Reebok ONE Series apparel that helps to provide the athlete with full range of motion, breathability and protection against abrasion and the elements.

The Movement zones include ergonomic seam placement to increase reach, stretch and articulation within the apparel. The Cooling zones consist of strategically placed ventilation areas to keep the body cool and dry. Anti-abrasion materials are incorporated into the Protection zones to reduce friction and also help to protect against the wind and sun.

"Our product teams have made it their priority to meet the needs of our athletes and how they train. We've spent that last three years perfecting our products to move the way the body moves. The BareMOVE system optimized the athletes’ range of motion during any training movement, keeping them cool and protected, so they can focus on performing at their highest level"said Chris Froio, Head of Training at Reebok.

In Spring/Summer ’14, the BareMOVE construction system will also be incorporated into the Reebok CrossFit apparel collection Reebok’s CrossFit® apparel range has been developed in partnership with CrossFit & CrossFit athletes since 2011 to ensure that it fulfills the needs of the CrossFit athletes and competitors at the CrossFit Games.

All of Reebok’s training apparel is available at Reebok Stores in Megamall, Trinoma, Festival Mall, Eastwood, Galleria, Gateway and Royal Sporting House Stores.

Endless Energy Begins with BOOST™

As they hit the roads, tracks and trails in record numbers, today’s runners are seeking more from their runs and more from their running shoes. To answer the call, adidas and partner BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, developed BOOST foam cushioning that returns more energy than any other foam cushioning in the running industry. By using thousands of eye-catching energy capsules BOOST has changed running forever.

BOOST technology forges the qualities of performance cushioning and responsiveness that runners were previously forced to choose between. Energy BOOST, the first shoe to feature BOOST technology was unleashed last February and continues to provide runners with a unique Energy Running experience.

“BOOST has blazed the trail for Energy Running and reflects adidas’ commitment to strategic performance innovation,” said Eric Liedtke, adidas head of performance. “As the shoe that helped us introduce BOOST, Energy BOOST demonstrates the elaborate research and cutting edge development required to satisfy today’s Energy Running crave.”

BOOST was developed to remain consistently cushioned and incredibly responsive through sub-zero cold to punishing heat. Testing conducted by the adidas Innovation Team (aIT) revealed that, when taken from +40 to -20 degrees Celsius, BOOST foam is three times more temperature-resistant than standard EVA material, providing a more consistent run.

The upper of Energy BOOST features adidas Techfit, highly durable elastic polyurethane that provides optimal comfort and support to the entire foot while in motion. The formfitting, breathable mesh material offers the fit of a sock, while engineered powerbands across the upper provide targeted support and stabilization.

Energy BOOST also includes an extended TORSION® system from heel to toe which helps minimize roll for stability. This feature works with an external heel counter, which maximizes the heel fit and comfort during runs.

Last February 26, adidas unveiled the first wave of new Energy BOOST colorways with a second series this March to complement its state-of-the-art Energy Running technology.

The new collection of miCoach compatible Energy BOOST colorways will retail for PHP 7995 and will be available at leading adidas and sports stores nationwide.

Alaska Ironkids Aquathlon - Race & Play

Shouting. Screaming. Jumping. Fists in the air. Hands clapping. Those were some of the moments that I witnessed during the IronKids Aquathlon held at the Village Sports Club in Las Pinas. The amount of adrenaline was overflowing not only from the young athletes but from their proud parents. Actually it was the parents and guardian who were more fierce and competitive during the whole event. You can just feel the energy radiating even a mile away. Well that part was exaggerated. Still the fact remained that the parents was beaming with pride seeing their kids crossing the finish line with a smile

I, too, will be jumping and screaming. Perhaps even more when I see my own kid on the lap pool or on his/her last 100 meters. It will be a shining moment for me and my kid. Being able to accomplish a feat especially at this day and age where technology triumphs over the traditional tumbang preso and patintero. Just imagine having the discipline of these kids waking up early for a practice swim or a run all with the aim of achieving an active lifestyle. Now that would be a great bonding experience between parents and their children. I hope to see more and more of this kind of event flourish in our country

Can't wait to witness the next 3 events slated on April (IronKids Triathlon), May (IronKids Aquathlon), and October (Family Triathlon). It is definitely going to be a feast of sorts. Can't wait to see the young athletes swim, bike and run their way towards the finish line. Can't wait to see the parents enthusiastically cheer on to their children. Can't wait to see more participants for the PLAY category. Lastly, can't wait to see familiar faces and fellow bloggers cheering with the same energy as everyone else. Wish to see you there as well. Waking up early is going to be worth it. Minus the scorching sun that is

*RACE division is for those who would like to compete while the PLAY division is for kids who would like to participate
